Even if the exterior and parts are removed to clean the air conditioner, it is almost impossible for a person to clean the fins precisely. Furthermore, if one accidentally presses it with a tool, the aluminum fins are easily bent and the cooling efficiency is reduced.
At the 2023 KOREA BUILD WEEK held from August 3 to 6, an automatic steam-cleaning solution for system (ceiling type) air conditioners was exhibited.
This system enables operators to install an automatic cleaning robot after disassembling the system air conditioner in an overhauled state.
Regardless of the manufacturer, the robot scans the shape of the heat exchanger through proximity recognition – and then goes through the steps of applying detergent, steam, high-pressure washing, and air drying.
A spokesperson for the company explained, “The robot’s cleaning time usually takes about 15 minutes, but like a washing machine, it is possible to set the time step-by-step, so the time required for each step can be further extended depending on the condition of the air conditioner.”
