Transformation into a ‛digital healthcare industry fair’

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, K-HOSPITAL FAIR, the representative hospital/ medical industry fair in Korea, will be held from September 14 to 16 after being renamed as K-HOSPITAL+HEALTH TECH FAIR with HIMSS (International Hospital and Health Tech Fair) – in line with the Healthcare 4.0 era.

The global digital healthcare market is growing rapidly. According to Global Industry Analysts Inc. (GIA), the digital healthcare market is expected to grow from US $152.5 billion in 2020 to US $508.8 billion in 2027, with an average annual growth rate of 18.8%.

Now that we have entered the endemic era, digital transformation has emerged as an alternative to respond to the challenges facing healthcare, such as rapid population aging and patient-centered medical paradigm shifts. Health and medical service technology is also shifting from providing simple ICT-based services to customized precision medical services using AI and big data; and big-tech companies are actively investing in technology development and new growth engines to secure market share.

Focusing on convergence health-tech technologies
This year’s fair focuses on convergence health-tech technologies to match the changed name.
The items on display have also been greatly expanded including — software medicine (AI solutions; digital treatment, etc.);medical applications; wearable devices; healthcare analysis (gene analysis, precision medicine, data analysis, etc.); and digital healthcare systems (PACS, EMR, PHR, etc.). The scale is also the largest-ever, with 220 companies and 550 booths.

More subdivided hospital medical information categories
The hospital medical information category will be further subdivided and various companies will be participating. You can see technologies in various fields, including servers and storage for efficiency of hospital medical systems, hospital-specific solutions such as EMR and PACS, security solutions, and data solutions. In addition to this, visitors will be able to see various robot technologies that innovate various medical fields, such as medical robots, logistics robots, and quarantine robots.

Expansion of self-planned seminars & leading future medical industry trends
The K-Digital Healthcare Summit, which celebrated its second anniversary this year, will be held for two days with four slogans: super-large AI medical care; healthcare data;digital treatment devices; and hospital innovation.

At the opening ceremony to be held on September 14, various exhibitions and academic events will be held, starting with a keynote speech by President Lee Kwang-hyung of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), the top scholar in Korea’s artificial intelligence and the fourth industrial era industry.

1:1 purchase consultations between hospitals and companies: ‘BUY MEDICAL’
During the fair, newly built and remodeled hospitals will participate and hold 1:1 purchase consultations with medical-device participating companies. In 2022, as many as 20 hospitals, and 67 companies participated, and 122 consultations were conducted — contributing to improved performance of participating companies every year.

Through BUY MEDICAL, hospitals can reasonably purchase medical devices and build facilities, while participating companies meet actual users such as those in charge of purchasing, logistics, medical science, and facilities. In particular, as many hospitals are promoting the transition to smart hospitals this year, intensive in-depth consultations with companies that have digital healthcare solutions are expected.

Discovery of innovative medical companies & holding of KHF Innovation Awards
In various countries around the world, the importance of technological innovation is being recognized, such as fostering the digital healthcare industry as a future food source. Accordingly, it was reported that this year’s exhibition will include the launch of the KHF Innovation Awards to discover companies with innovative technologies in Korea throughout the medical industry and to promote industry exchanges.
