[INQ. NO. 2405E04] AETECH Co., Ltd. was established in May 2020 with the mission of ‘a company that creates a smart city where robots sort waste.’
AETECH developed the artificial intelligence (AI) robot ‘Atron’ for waste sorting work and succeeded in commercializing it for the first time in Korea. At present, it has installed more than 12 Atrons in domestic recycling sorting facilities.
Atron is a solution that revolutionizes the waste industry by automating the process of manually sorting recyclables. As its next business model, AETECH plans to build an unmanned-robot resource recovery center, and to develop a waste sorting system for apartment complexes. AETECH is leading the waste industry with technological advancement and creativity.

Waste resource sorting AI robot
Atron is a waste resource sorting AI robot. This robot adopts the automatic method in which a robot arm accurately and quickly classifies waste selected by AI that has learned more than 2.6 million pieces of field data. The overall structure consists of five parts: recognition department; analysis department; surveillance department; selection department; and conversion department. Atron’s robot arm is a blower method that uses pneumatics, allowing for faster work, sorting 96 recycling items per minute. The robot comes in two models: Single Atron with one arm, and Dual Atron with two arms.
Recognition accuracy is 99.3%, and up to 46 types are classified by adding material and color criteria for the seven types of target waste (PET, PE, PP, PS, glass, cans, etc.). In particular, adaptive control that reflects the physical properties and condition of the waste is possible, allowing the recycling rate to be maximized. Another advantage is that it is manufactured based on original technology from hardware to software, so it can be customized according to the actual work site environment.
When introduced, customers can see a 240% increase in waste-sorting speed and a 266% reduction in sorting costs compared to existing manual sorting methods. The daily carbon footprint per one unit of the product is reduced by 860kg.
