Micro Medical Robot System

https://korean-electronics.com//inquiry

[INQ. NO. 2507E04] Established in 2019, IMsystem Co., Ltd. has developed Korea’s first micro medical robot system for precision vascular interventional procedures, and is currently commercializing it.
Currently, IMsystem has completed the prototype production of a remote magnetic micro medical robot system for vascular intervention procedures, and the licensing process is in progress.

Micro medical robot system for precision vascular intervention procedures
Unlike existing vascular intervention procedures in which the operator manually manipulates surgical tools, the micro medical robot system for precision vascular intervention (IM_SuperMag_Clinic) uses a magnetic field control system installed at the bottom of the patient’s bed. It is a remote surgery system using a magnetic guide wire/catheter microrobot attached to a microrobot fitted at the end of the existing guide wire/catheter.
Existing procedures have limitations in that it is difficult to insert surgical tools into narrow blood vessels of complex shapes due to manual manipulation by the operator, so the results of the treatment depend on the operator’s skill level. In addition, in the case of complex procedures, not only does exposure to radiation from X-rays, etc., increase due to increased procedure time, but the number of patients who can receive the procedure is also limited due to operator fatigue.

IM_SuperMag_Clinic controls remote surgical tools through magnetic field control, and the operator performs the procedure using a joystick/3D mouse while viewing X-ray images in a separate space rather than inside the operating room.
By reducing fatigue and radiation exposure and improving the convenience of the procedure, the success rate of the procedure, the speed of patient recovery, and the number of daily patients can be increased. It can thus meet the needs of patients, operators, and hospitals, respectively.
Following the completion of prototype development, domestic GMP and licensing are currently in preparation. The acquisition of a domestic license is expected by the end of 2025. For overseas expansion, IMsystem is aiming for CE and FDA approval in 2028. And it is expected that it will be able to quickly advance into overseas markets after being exempted from clinical trials by receiving 510k equivalent recognition from the FDA.

[INQ. NO. 2507E03] WHATs LAB, a medical XR virtual training company, exhibited a glove-type VR controller at the MVEX 2025 (Metaverse Expo) held recently at COEX in Seoul.
This product can naturally replicate sophisticated hand movements of users in virtual reality that were difficult to perform with existing VR controllers. It detects hand movements through a 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis gyro, and 3-axis geomagnetic sensor.
It also enables realistic interaction experiences by transmitting vibration and pressure feedback with the built-in 4-stage haptic element. In addition, it adopted a ‘glove form factor’ structure worn on the tip of the finger to minimize discomfort caused by sweat or foreign substances.

A spokesperson for the company explained, “We combine the hand-movement recognition data of the exhibited product with the hand-location information recognized by the basic controller of the VR device. We plan to increase immersion by installing a temperature sensor in the future.”

WHATs LAB found the need for a controller that can recognize the user’s hand movements more reliably and that is comfortable to use, so that is why the company developed it. WHATs LAB believes that it can be useful for creating VR content that requires delicate movements, such as surgical practice, or gun disassembly and assembly training.
WHATs LAB provides VR digital-therapy devices for mild cognitive impairment, plus anxiety, and depressive disorders; as well as Air Glove Atlas, a wearable band-open glove-type VR controller, and virtual training content linked to it.
