Pebble-i’s mobile care robot UPGO Plus is an assistive device that helps transport patients or the elderly from one location to another. It adopts the principle of a lever that induces a patient or elderly person to straighten their knees to stand, and to sit them down through a knee-folding motion.

The robot has many differentiated points over other products: the height of the chest cushion can be adjusted to three levels, so a patient or elderly person with a height of 140~190cm can use one UPGO Plus; a patient or elderly person weighing up to 130kg can use it; and it can be operated in accordance with the physical condition of the patient or elderly person with two actuators fitted.
In addition, it is equipped with 5-inch-large front wheels, allowing it to move on urethane floors or carpets, and has separate straps for the chest and knees of users — allowing it to be used even for bedridden patients, or the elderly.
“After launching UPGO Plus, a mobile assistive device product for patients and the elderly, in June 2023 following approximately three years of research and development, we have reflected the feedback from actual users through continuous evaluations in hospitals and nursing homes in order to develop a more highly complete product,” the company’s CEO explained.

As it is easily portable, it can be placed and used in various types of places. Depending on the purpose of use, the product consists of the VPism-D+, which is exclusively for blood collection and IV injection; and the VPism-C+ that can be used on the entire body, including the face and legs.

iiSM Inc. is currently operating in Korea and the United States to help medical staff to improve the success rate of injections and prevent medical accidents, and to eliminate the pain experienced by patients, caused by incorrect medical procedures (blood collection, IV injection, etc.). The company has overseas agencies in India, Kazakhstan, and Saudi Arabia. Until now, iiSM has exported its products to over 30 countries with a number of partners.

In Korea, this dry-eye treatment medical device has proven its effectiveness and safety through approval by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and its technology has been recognized. Due to the nature of medical devices, exporting them is difficult, so Seodong Medical plans to open up sales channels in overseas markets by demonstrating its technology through real-time product experience to domestic and foreign buyers at KIMES 2024.
