Real-time Interpretation System using AI technology │ Released December 2023

What is it? A service at Seoul subway stations that uses AI technology to provide real-time interpretation into 13 different languages.
Is it possible for people from different countries to speak in their native language and still communicate? With the new Real-time Interpretation Service at Seoul subway stations, it is! The system uses AI technology to interpret the conversation between foreign tourists and the Korean staff at the subway station. For example, a Chinese tourist can ask how to get to Yongsan Station in Chinese, and the Korean station worker will reply in Korean.
So how does it work? A mic is connected to a see-through touch screen that displays the words spoken. After the tourist asks a question in their own language, their question is translated into Korean and appears on the monitor for the Korean station worker to see. The staff can then respond in Korean and their reply will be translated into the language spoken by the tourist automatically using AI. Because the AI translates the spoken words immediately, there is no delay in communication. The touch-screen can also be used to look up information on T-locker and T-luggage, storage systems in place for tourists.

What is it? | TABA is an app made exclusively for foreign tourists to make hailing taxis easier and more convenient in Seoul.
“Get a taxi in Korea.” That’s the catchphrase of TABA, a foreign tourist-exclusive taxi hailing app. Other taxi apps have a number of inconveniences and stumbling blocks for foreign visitors, from requiring a Korean phone number to register to only allowing payment with bank cards issued in Korea. TABA has approached it differently to remove all obstacles!
TABA is available in five languages, with user verification possible using one’s cell phone number from their home country, and payment accepted via international card (VISA, MASTERCARD, UnionPay, DISCVOER, AMEX, etc.). Because the app was created with the support of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the app is also able to provide some great fare rates! The app can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store.

No matter what question you have when using Seoul Bike, simply ask the chatbot or find it in the related menu for quick and easy answers. The Seoul Bike app can be download from Google Play or the App Store.
In addition, the app is also connected with 120 Dasan Call Center, Seoul’s hotline, so users can easily get connected to assistance. Dasan Call Center can provide interpretation service between users and the team in charge of Seoul Bike inquiries.

IFEZA Planning to Systematize and Advance the Industrial Ecosystem in IFEZ, Focusing on the Bio& Healthcare Fields

Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZA) recently announced that it will carry out a project to systematize and advance the innovative growth industrial ecosystem of Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ), focusing on the bio and healthcare sectors.

This project, which is being promoted in cooperation with the Bio Center of Incheon Technopark (ITP), includes the establishment of a status analysis database within the IFEZ; setting up a collaboration network and council among resident companies; support for special regulations; support for technology commercialization; support for investment attraction capacity enhancement; support for participation in exhibitions to attract investment and promote companies; and operational support (satisfaction survey for supported companies), etc.

IFEZA and ITP will build a foundation including front and rear bio healthcare industries such as new bio drugs (vaccines), innovative new drugs, smart healthcare, new technology medical devices, and bio materials/parts/equipment. And the two bodies plan to actively support bio-healthcare-based front and rear ventures and foster startups entering the global market.
A spokesperson for ITP, explained “We plan to contribute to the strengthening of corporate business capabilities and the development of a new global bio-health industry base — through technical support for the bio and healthcare industries; comprehensive package support for global expansion; demand survey for technical difficulties; specialized consulting; and exhibition participation support.”
IFEZA’s Commissioner Yun Won-sok elaborated further, “This year’s innovation ecosystem creation project is expected to be of great help in establishing an innovation ecosystem centered on IFEZ’s core strategic industries. We will actively strive to support innovation clusters, such as establishing industry-academia research networks between local innovation organizations and resident companies, and strengthen corporate business capabilities — in order to create an innovation ecosystem of the future.”

The project will run for 10 months from this month to the end of this year, and in this regard IFEZA announced that it recently held the ‘2024 IFEZ Innovation Ecosystem Creation Project Launching Report Meeting’ at G Tower in Incheon’s Songdo International City.

Cuckoo Electronics Launches Steam Shot Large-capacity Dishwasher

Employing a powerful cleaning system to provide thorough cleaning
In particular, the new product uses a powerful five-layer, three-dimensional cleaning system to provide thorough cleaning without blind spots. Featuring powerful washing nozzles at the top, middle, and bottom, a three-dimensional water spray is carried out through a vertical spray in the middle and a swirl nozzle at the bottom to clean dishes without blind spots. After the cleaning process is completed, the remaining moisture is effectively removed with hot air at 100˚C, and internal moisture and odors are discharged through the automatic door opening drying function. Finally, the blowing function removes any remaining moisture and odor, and if additional drying is needed, users can additionally select the ‘Strong Dry’ program.
The tray is also efficiently designed for optimal dishwashing and drying. To increase space utilization, the flexible three-tier basket can secure space in the middle basket by sliding the top basket to the left when necessary. In addition, the height of the middle basket can be adjusted with just one touch, so it can store large pots, and the bottom basket is equipped with a folding stand so that it can be used according to the situation. With this efficient use of space, it is possible to store up to 110 large and small dishes for 14 people and then wash them.
A spokesperson for the company explained, “To help consumers escape the dishwashing burden, we have launched the steam shot large-capacity dishwasher that can wash up to 110 large and small dishes.”
