Window-type Air Conditioners

[INQ. NO. 2407E05] CLK CORPORATION recently released its latest window-type air conditioner ‘2024 ‘New Ultra Plus.’
The ‘New Ultra Plus’ is the only domestic window air conditioner to apply the ‘18-stage air control’ function. The wind speed can be adjusted in 18 stages depending on the space, environment, and preference. The wide-wind-blade that rotates left and right up to 108 degrees automatically controls the wind direction to adjust the indoor temperature evenly and quickly without any blind spots.
In addition, the patented design ― side suction and front discharge ― enables effective cooling by not re-inhaling the cold air sent out to the front. Convenience has also been improved with various operating mode settings.
Equipped with a twin rotary compressor with low-noise and low-vibration – manufactured with CLK’s own technology, the new product’s noise level is only 32 decibels (dB), which is the level of a library. It is the lowest level among domestic window air conditioners. Therefore, it is highly utilized not only in the home such as the bedroom and children’s room, but also in spaces where concentration is required such as study and office work.
The ‘UV-C LED’ function has been applied to solve the problem of bacteria and mold, which is one of the concerns when using air conditioners in the summer. The UV-C LED is located between the fan, through which the air passes, and the heat exchanger, reducing the four major bacteria, including pneumonia, E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus, by approximately 99.9%.
In addition, the ‘self-cleaning’ function dries the remaining moisture in the heat exchanger on its own to prevent the occurrence of mold and bad odors. The ‘separable air filter’ can be cleaned with water, allowing for hygienic use, and the drain hole that can drain the condensate generated from the air conditioner is designed with a ‘dual drain’ structure located on the bottom and back of the product, thus increasing convenience.
In addition, the ‘Follow Me’ function, which detects the indoor temperature with a remote- control sensor rather than the air conditioner, enables comfortable temperature-control centered on the user. The ‘Easy Install Kit’ that allows easy installation by oneself is provided, so the product can be installed with just a screwdriver without needing any separate tools.
The product’s compact size makes it easy to attach and detach from the window or store separately. It is possible to operate in energy-saving mode according to the indoor temperature, and it has first-class energy-consumption efficiency.

Digital Emergency Bell

Existing mechanical emergency bells installed in restrooms and other places for crime prevention had limitations in maintenance and monitoring after installation. Most dispatches were due to malfunctions, which were also identified as a waste of police resources.
sPresto developed a solution targeting the ‘simplification’ of such emergency bells. The exhibited product is a large plate made of acrylic with a built-in NFC chip. When an emergency occurs, an alarm is sent by turning on the NFC function of a smartphone and holding it close.
The control room can check the address and location within the building of the emergency bell that received the report, and through a phone connection, it is possible to assess the detailed situation and provide counseling to stabilize the reporter’s emotions until the field agent arrives.

A spokesperson for the company explained, “Although emergency bells have been mandated to be installed in public restrooms, there have been questions raised about whether mechanical emergency bells can fulfill their role due to their limitations,” adding, “This solution is a plate-shaped product with an NFC chip that can be attached to the wall using double-sided tape on the back, and only the outer surface can be maintained.”
Since everything from installation to maintenance is simpler than existing methods, introduction and operating costs can also be reduced. The company can provide the product in various forms to suit the installation environment, such as acrylic, outdoor, night, and aluminum.

Korea’s Exports Continue Moving Positively

Korea’s exports in May increased by 11.7% year-on-year, continuing the 8th-consecutive month of trade surplus.

According to the export and import trends announced by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), the nation’s exports in May recorded US$ 58.15 billion.

May exports showed the highest performance in 22 months since July 2022 when exports amounted to US$ 60.24 billion.

By item, 11 out of the 15 major items increased in exports. All IT items, including semiconductors, displays, computers, and wireless communication devices, recorded positive growth for three consecutive months. The combined exports also increased for seven consecutive months.

The largest export item, semiconductors, increased by 54.5% year-on-year to US$11.38 billion, continuing the upward trend for seven consecutive months. Semiconductor monthly exports exceeded US$11 billion for the second time this year since March.

Display exports recorded the highest performance this year at US$1.63 billion in May. Displays also continued the upward trend for 10 consecutive months. Computer (SSD) exports recorded US$1.04 billion, the highest performance in 17 months since December 2022 (US$1.05 billion).

Automobile exports recorded $6.49 billion, the highest ever in May. A spokesperson for MOTIE explained, “Despite the shutdown of some domestic production facilities in May, the year-on-year increase is continuing due to the expansion of exports of hybrid cars and SUVs with high export prices.”

Ship exports more than doubled (108.4%) year-on-year to US$2.06 billion. Shipbuilding exports continued to increase for 10 consecutive months due to brisk exports of high-value-added ships ordered at high prices in 2021.

By region, exports increased to seven out of the nine major export regions. Exports to China recorded US$11.38 billion, the highest in 19 months since US$12.2 billion recorded in October 2022.

Exports to the United States recorded US$10.93 billion, the highest export performance in May ever. Meanwhile, exports to Central and South America showed the highest growth rate of 25.5% among the nine major regions.

Exports Continue to Be Positive for Eight Consecutive Months

Last May, Korea’s trade balance recorded a surplus of US$4.96 billion, the highest in 41 months. Major export items such as semiconductors, automobiles, and exports to China are clearly recovering and returning to normal.
According to data recently released by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), the nation’s exports last month were $58.15 billion, while imports amounted to $53.19 billion, and the trade balance thus recorded a surplus of $4.96 billion.
Exports remained positive for eight consecutive months, and the trade balance reached its highest level in 41 months since December 2020 ($6.7 billion).

This achievement includes the nation’s major export items such as semiconductors and automobiles. Semiconductors recorded $11.38 billion, up 54.5% year-on-year, and continuing a favorable trend for seven consecutive months. Automobile exports also reached $6.49 billion, breaking the record for the highest performance in May ever.
Exports of displays (15.8%), wireless communications (9.4%), and computers (48.4%) also increased, recording export plus for the third consecutive month in all IT items following the previous month.
In addition, exports of 11 out of the 15 major export items increased ― including computers, wireless communications, petrochemicals, automobiles, petroleum products, ships, bio-health, home appliances, and textiles.
Exports to China, which had been sluggish, are also showing signs of recovery. Exports to China reached $11.4 billion, the highest in 19 months since October 2022. Exports to the United States also recorded the highest performance in May ever, reaching $10.9 billion, increasing for the 10th consecutive month.

By region, seven regions, including the United States (15.6%) and China (7.6%), showed an increase. As exports are becoming brisk again, there are optimistic prospects for the nation’s annual economic growth rate to continue growing.
Korean exporters are continuously seeking to expand their business territories in the latter half of this year – and thus to elevate their global awareness in world markets.
