Winning Innovation Award in enterprise tech category
[INQ. NO. 2601E04] Mapsea Corporation, a maritime big data solutions company, has won an Innovation Award for the second consecutive year at CES 2026, the world’s largest technology exhibition. This year, it won the honor in the enterprise tech category, once again demonstrating Korea’s global status in maritime technology.
Mapsea’s core technology, which won the award, is its AI-based digital twin navigation platform. It refines and integrates over 150 billion pieces of big data collected from 2.6 million vessels worldwide by applying Real Time Kinematics (RTK) and High Frequency Data (HFD) technologies. It analyzes information such as vessel location, route, weather, tidal current, engines, and fuel usage in real time, supporting reliable decision-making even in polar shipping routes. Its specialized simulation capabilities for the Arctic Route are particularly noteworthy.

It precisely covers areas missed by existing navigation systems, such as automatically deriving optimal routes by reflecting data on iced seas and weather changes, and predicting risky areas in advance. This approach has earned high praise for simultaneously achieving operational safety, efficiency, and carbon reduction.
Mapsea’s AI-based navigation system goes beyond simple monitoring to integrate collision avoidance, multi-event detection, and automatic alerting systems.
It reduces human error, which accounts for 75% of maritime accidents, and can reduce fuel consumption by up to 15% through optimal route analysis. Furthermore, it has established a data-driven carbon monitoring system to address international carbon regulations, such as the European Emissions Trading System (ETS), attracting attention as a sustainable management tool for global shipping companies. Actual feedback from shipping companies has shown that monitoring efficiency has improved by more than 24 times compared to previous systems.

Mapsea has already received AIP technology certification from the Korean Register (KR) and has established Korea’s first official partnership with the global shipping rating agency RightShip. Furthermore, Mapsea solidified its position on the international maritime technology stage by winning an award at the PIER71 Smart Port Challenge 2024, in the category of AI, hosted by Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) and NUS Enterprise, the entrepreneurship arm of the National University of Singapore.
At KORMARINE 2025, an international shipbuilding & marine industry exhibition, held in Busan last October, Mapsea’s booth for the digital twin demonstration for the Arctic Route attracted thousands of visitors, creating a buzz with its live technology demonstration. With this winning of the award, Mapsea has established itself as an innovative company in the maritime data industry.
“Winning the CES Innovation Award for two consecutive years is testament to the global recognition of our digital twin technology, which has expanded to the Arctic Route. We will advance further as a first mover, leading the digital transformation of the global maritime industry through the convergence of AI and data,” remarked the company’s CEO.
Mapsea is currently an official partner of ZEBOX, the global accelerator of France’s CMA CGM Group, and plans to expand collaboration with the global maritime technology ecosystems in 2026.
It is rare for a Korean maritime technology company to win an Innovation Award at CES for two consecutive years. This is particularly significant as it marks the first time that digital maritime twin technology, centered on AI and big data, has been recognized as commercial technology on the international stage.
Experts believe that this award goes beyond mere technological achievement and demonstrates Korea’s potential to emerge as a leader in maritime digital transformation.
Mapsea plans to participate in digital transformation projects not only on the Arctic Route, but also on major maritime routes between Asia and Europe, and is pursuing the expansion of data infrastructure across the maritime, logistics, and energy industries.

KINGSTAR LIGHTING, Korea’s Leading Eco-friendly LED Lighting Manufacturer

https://korean-electronics.com//inquiry

Developing Energy-Zero Sterilization Lighting Technology Based on Visible Light

[INQ. NO. 2512E05] KINGSTAR LIGHTING CO., LTD., a leading eco-friendly LED lighting manufacturer founded in 2011, has developed visible light-based sterilization lighting technology EnergyZero® — applicable to a variety of indoor spaces, including schools, hospitals, public facilities, and industrial environments.
Developed through industry-academia collaboration with Korea University, this technology utilizes harmless 405nm wavelength visible light to inhibit and eliminate the growth of bacteria, viruses, and mold.
Combining LED technology with the inherent functionality of lighting, the lighting itself is designed to continuously maintain indoor hygiene without the need for additional equipment or consumables.

Adoption of Visible Light Sterilization Method for 24/7 Operation
The visible light sterilization method does not use UV rays, so it poses no risk to the skin or eyes and can be used continuously 24 hours per day, even in environments where people are present.
This technology works by activating porphyrins within bacteria on a wavelength of 405 nm, generating reactive oxygen species (ROS). These ROS then destroy the bacterial cell membrane and structure, resulting in a sterilizing effect.
While the sterilization method has a slower sterilization rate than that of UV sterilization, its safety and the ability to continuously monitor the space make it highly applicable in densely populated spaces vulnerable to infection — such as educational institutions, medical facilities, public buildings, offices, and research institutes.

Formed to be Fully Compatible with Existing Lighting Specifications
KINGSTAR LIGHTING’s EnergyZero® product line is designed to be fully compatible with existing lighting specifications, including flat panel lighting, room lighting, and downlight lighting.
Rather than simply adding sterilization functionality, this product line is designed to meet indoor illuminance standards while maintaining the brightness, color temperature, and light distribution characteristics of the lighting, thereby ensuring ease of installation and expandability.
This product line is particularly recognized as reliable solutions for use in facilities that must meet both illumination and safety standards — such as hospitals, nursing homes, and schools.

Notable Cost Competitiveness
As they are LED-based products, maintenance costs are low and there are no additional costs for consumables like lamp- or filter-replacement, unlike conventional sterilization equipment. Power consumption is also very low, compared to that of general LED lighting, so there is almost no additional energy burden — even though it provides both lighting and sterilization functions.
This technological advantage is particularly well-received in public institutions and local-government procurement projects, and they are thus being installed and operated in numerous institutions.
“We plan to continue expanding our range of effective smart hygiene solutions in public health, education, and living environments, leveraging our visible light sterilization lighting technology. Combining lighting and sterilization technologies, EnergyZero® sterilization lighting goes beyond the scope of conventional lighting products, and is positioning itself as a new lighting paradigm that enhances the health and safety of indoor spaces,” the company’s CEO remarked.
