Exporting X-ray detectors, high resolution industrial cameras, and in-vivo imaging systems

NO. 2202E02] Founded in 1999, Vieworks Co., Ltd. provides medical and industrial imaging solutions including digital X-ray detectors, high resolution industrial cameras, and bio-imaging systems. Since its establishment, Vieworks has constantly developed core technologies in optics, electronics, mechanics, and software in-house over the course of 20 years in order to create the foundation for its imaging solutions.

With this technological expertise, Vieworks succeeded in commercializing Automatic Exposure Detection (AED) for the first time in the world, as well as in introducing a hybrid time-delay integration (TDI) sensor. In 2011, Vieworks launched the world’s first 260 million pixel resolution industrial camera, followed by the 16:9 aspect ratio 152 million pixel resolution industrial camera in 2021. These industry-leading technologies place Vieworks in a firm position in the global market.
Vieworks has achieved KRW 427 billion in sales over the past three years, of which KRW 331 billion resulted from exports—approximately 78% of total sales. Vieworks is seeing a steady rise in its exports, recording KRW 130 billion in 2020 as opposed to KRW96 billion in 2018.

The foundation of Vieworks’ competitiveness is its continuous and bold investment in research. After establishing its corporate R&D center in 2001, Vieworks has invested 10 percent of sales in research and development each and every year. In 2020, KRW 22.8 billion, nearly 16 percent of total sales, was spent on research and development. The number of employees working on research and development currently amounts to 124, or about 31 percent of the total number of employees. Aside from the world’s first AED technology and hybrid TDI sensor, Vieworks has also developed dynamic detectors for dental X-ray systems and is currently developing proton detectors with Korea’s National Cancer Center for next-generation cancer treatment.

Moreover, Vieworks aims to provide a one-stop total solution for flat panel display, semiconductors, and battery inspection with its ultra-high resolution cameras, lenses, optics, and illumination. Vieworks is also seeing progress in its development of cameras for satellites and bio imaging systems. In recent years, Vieworks has risen as an industry-leader in nondestructive testing (NDT) by utilizing its proven competence in X-ray detectors.
Based on Vieworks’ technological know-how and subsequently high-quality products, its tailored service for customers and constant efforts to develop foreign markets led to an increase of 39 percent in overseas customers since 2018. Currently, Vieworks has subsidiaries in six countries around the globe, covering the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
