The company developed its entire digital set-top-box product range terrestrial/satellite/cable broadcasting) and started to export satellite set-top-boxes to Dubai Grand, a broadcasting operator in the Middle East within one year after its founding. It has also taken part in international trade shows to pioneer new markets since 2003 and managed a turnover of 100 billion won within just three years after its establishment. After its public listing on the Korea stock market in 2005, Kaon Media is becoming a world leader in the coming digital age by developing new technologies and leading digital innovation in the digital terrestrial and satellite broadcasting receiver sector. By intensively targeting European and Indian markets, Kaon Media turnover in 2010 was 220 billion won, the company’s
highest ever.

With such an outstanding achievement, Kaon Media, headed by CEO Lim Hwa-seop, won the 60th Trader of the Month award, and was also presented with the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit in 2010, one of the highest honors that the Korean government can give a businessperson.

Despite difficulties from the global economic slump in 2011, the company prepared itself for the rapidly changing market trends and aggressively invested in developing and manufacturing next-generation products such as the IP/hybrid set-top-box and the smart OTT set-top-box.

With digital broadcasting conversion and ASO (Analog Switch Off) in 2012, Kaon Media has exclusively supplied the IPTV set-top-box to KT and SK Broadband, becoming the country’s No.1 set-top-box supplier. It has also secured a basis for stable sales by signing a contract for supplying hybrid set-top-boxes to Skylife.

The company has also succeeded in creating a new business area combining hardware, contents, and broadcasting solutions by launching a smart OTT service called ‘Daum TV Plus’ through co-investment with Daum Communications, a Korean web portal. In addition, it has signed a business tie-up agreement with Google to provide upgraded service and products worldwide.

Kaon Media has also been working on developing a gateway set-top-box that enabled it to secure a contract with the Europe-based Canal Digital with the goal of launching by the end of this year.
