Hybrid Lens for Autonomous Driving


[INQ. NO. 2212E01] LG Innotek recently developed a high-performance hybrid lens for autonomous driving. The developed lenses are downsized products with increased price-competitiveness through the application of plastic lenses.

With this development, LG Innotek is expected to take a leading position in the global camera module market for autonomous driving.

The high-performance hybrid lenses come in two models – lens for driver monitoring systems (DMS) and lens for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The lenses are cross-applied products of thin plastic and glass in the inner part, thereby elevating performance. The existing autonomous driving lenses are manufactured with glass that is not transformed by temperature and outer force.

In particular, LG Innotek is the world’s first company to realize high-performance in ADAS lenses through applying plastic.

LG Innotek decreased the size of lenses by using plastic, thereby enhancing performance and price-competitiveness. The existing lenses were characterized high-cost raw materials and thickness.

Customers could thus expand their choices thanks to the lenses developed by LG Innotek.
