https://korean-electronics.com//inquiry

[INQ. NO. 2405E10] At WIS 2024, SKIA introduced SKIA_OPD, which uses augmented reality (AR) to educate patients about pathological phenomena, surgery, and progress.
SKIA is a company that develops non-marker-based AR solutions for medical use. SKIA_OPD was designed based on the world’s first method of adjusting images to patients without using physical markers. An exploratory clinical trial was conducted targeting breast cancer, an indication for non-rigid tissue.
SKIA_OPD is an AR solution that reconstructs 2D medical images that can only be viewed on a monitor into 3D, and projects them onto the patient’s body in real time. It can accurately show the location of the CT being viewed and the shape and location of areas of interest, such as internal organs, bones, lesions, and blood vessels.

The goal for the development of the solution was to reduce surgical deviations depending on the doctor’s skill level, and create a safe surgical environment for patients. SKIA_OPD helps provide easy and detailed explanations to patients and their families during the treatment or surgery- planning stage. Doctors can provide medical information more intuitively to patients.
SKIA-OPD meets the accuracy standards for stereotaxic navigation medical instruments recommended by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Typical medical navigation allows an error rate of up to 2 mm. SKIA-OPD shows an average error rate of 1.4 mm for the head and neck area, and 1.7 mm for the upper body.
SKIA is introducing artificial intelligence (AI) into the solution and applying automatic segmentation of necessary areas such as the skin, some blood vessels, organs, and lesions. SKIA through this solution is enabling the three-dimensional image to be accurately adjusted ― without causing harm to the patient due to the invasive method of using markers.
