[INQ. NO. 2310E02] Decasight recently introduced a surgical navigation solution at a domestic exhibition. The solution can display information on the display using vision artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
The solution can play an auxiliary role, such as tracking surgical tools inserted into a patient’s body. The display can be replaced with a head mount to increase usability. The solution is also equipped with an Augmented Reality (AR) surgical practice function to improve proficiency.
“Automated surgical robots will be available in the next 10 to 15 years,” a spokesperson for the company said, adding “The solution can be used for machine learning to monitor actual doctors’ surgical procedures.”

By monitoring the patient’s vision history — including changes in axial length (AL) and refraction, diagnosing glasses, and dream lenses, comparing changes before and after prescription, and checking anisometropia — one can track changes in the patient’s ocular health status and establish a long-term treatment plan.
Another advantage is the realization of a user-centered inspection environment. It can be easily linked with DICOM to enable analysis of patient test data from various devices. Additionally, it has a built-in PC, so one can check everything from measurements to analysis reports on the LCD screen without a separate PC, which not only reduces treatment time but also increases inspection efficiency.

Hajodae Scenic Point
Hajodae Scenic Point is a famous attraction in Yangyang, complete with a pavilion atop the cliffs, and plenty of rocky islands and outcroppings. The pavilion itself is surrounded by pine trees, standing in harmony with the rocks and sea.
One pine tree in particular is very famous among Koreans. Looking out to the East Sea from Hajodae Pavilion, you can see a 200-year-old pine tree growing from the top of the rocky cliff. The tree is used as the background image for national broadcasts during the first verse of the national anthem; many people even call the tree “National Anthem Pine Tree”.
You can get an even better view of the coastline by walking to Hajodae Skywalk. The observatory is located within a military-controlled zone, but is open to tourists within set hours.
The skywalk offers all kinds of scenes, from the emerald colored East Sea below your feet on the transparent deck, to the stretch of Hajodae Beach, and even fishermen on the rocks. A stroll along Hajodae Dulle-gil, stretching from the observatory to Hajodae Military Rest Area, is a great way to get in some exercise while enjoying the cool sea breeze.

Naksansa Temple
Naksansa Temple is located atop Obongsan Mountain with an unobstructed view of the East Sea. As one of the three main temples in Korea dedicated to the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, it is famous for its grand 16-meter-tall Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva statue. They say if you rub the back of the stone frog below the statue, you will be granted a wish.

Korea-Philippines FTA Officially Signed

  • Liberalization of trade with the Philippines, one of Korea’s top three export destinations in ASEAN

Korea and the Philippines recently officially signed a free trade agreement (hereinafter referred to as ‘FTA’).


For the Korea-Philippines FTA, the two nations declared an agreement in principle on the basic framework focusing on the concession level in October 2021. Thereafter, several rounds of intensive negotiations were held between the two sides on the detailed schedule for tariffelimination and reduction, agricultural product safeguard implementation procedures, and regulations on the operation of the product committee. In June 2022, a final agreement on all aspects of the Korea-Philippines FTA was reached.
With this signing, Korea has concluded 22 FTAs with 59 countries around the world. The Philippines is a contracting party to multilateral FTAs such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the ASEAN Free Trade Area, and Korea is the second bilateral FTA after the Philippines-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), which came into effect in 2008.


Korea has been expanding its FTA network with ASEAN’s major individual trading partners along with multilateral FTAs in which all ASEAN countries participate, such as the Korea-ASEAN FTA and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
In addition to Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia, Korea’s FTA agreement with the Philippines thus recorded a total of five FTA relationships with ASEAN countries. Korea’s trade volume with these five countries amounts to 91% of the total trade volume with ASEAN as of 2022.

Electric Dual Tilt-rotor Drone

[INQ. NO. 2309E32] Narma Inc. is the first spin-off company of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI).
With the tilt-rotor technology of KARI, Narma has developed the world’s first electric dual tilt-rotor drone, and succeeded in its commercialization.
Established in 2018, Narma focused on R&D for three years, and since 2021 has conducted demo flights through various national projects.
Narma was able to stabilize drones using data collected through demo flights in these projects, and in 2022 achieved its first overseas sales. Its goal this year is to expand business into the U.S. market.
Based on the demo flight data conducted in this way, Narma developed more stable drones and achieved its first overseas exports in 2022. During this year, Narma plans to establish a branch in the United States and conduct demo flights.

Capable of vertical take-off and landing
Narma’s world’s first electric small tiltrotor drone, AF200, is capable of vertical take-off and landing, and can fly like an airplane after tilting the rotor in the air.
It is thus capable of high-speed flight (up to 120 km/h) and long-distance flight by using the lift of the wings. Based on these advantages, it can be considered as a very suitable drone for delivery and surveillance.
The AF200 can fly for up to 40 minutes and a distance of 40 kilometers with a payload of 5kg. Items can be safely delivered using three types of drop system developed by Narma. Starting with the Tongyeong-Saryangdo blood delivery business, stability and functionality have been proven through various government tasks.
In 2022, through a sandbox project supported by the Korea Institute of Aviation Safety and Technology, Narma has carried out a medication delivery drone project, operating a delivery shuttle drone between Chungnam National University Hospital and Konkuk University Hospital.
In 2023, through the CTS Seed1 project in Kenya, Narma plans to carry out an emergency medical delivery business supported by KOICA to local public health centers using the AF200.
