HQ Vision is new, advanced technology for visualizing anatomical structures. With improved image clarity, this feature helps medical staffs make a reliable diagnosis quickly.

With advanced technologies like CEUS+ and S-Shearwave, the number of biopsies can be reduced, lesions become visible and examinations are easier to perform.

CEUS+

CEUS+ technology uses the unique properties of ultrasound contrast agents. When stimulated with low acoustic pressure, the oscillating microbubbles reflect both fundamental and harmonic frequency signals. In addition, Samsung’s latest technologies, VesselMax and FlowMax, provide a clear visualization of vessels and blood flow for a more informed and confident diagnosis.

S-Shearwave

S-Shearwave detects the speed of the shearwave propagated through the targeted lesion and displays the numerical measurement of stiffness in kPa or m/s together with a Reliable Measurement Index (RMI)*. A graphic profile provides an intuitive Variation Range (VR) to depict uniformity of tissue stiffness within the Region of Interest (ROI).
S-Shearwave is non-invasive, helping medical specialists to measure liver stiffness easily.

Samsung continues pushing the boundaries of ultrasound technology with leading technologies including S-Fusion and S-Tracking for increased accuracy when performing interventional procedures.

S-Tracking

S-Tracking increases accuracy during interventional procedures by providing a simulated needle path and target mark within the live ultrasound image. Clear Track, one of two functions provided by S-Tracking, ensures accuracy by using a specialized needle with a sensor tip. S-Tracking also includes Virtual Track utilizing conventional needles to provide both accuracy and economic benefit.

NeedleMate™

NeedleMate™ ensures precise needle targeting when performing commonly used interventional procedures. Beam Steer: Identifying the location of needles (needle guidance & needle tips), Beam Steer provides a high level of efficiency and safety in needle placement.

S-Fusion

S-Fusion enables simultaneous localization of a lesion using real-time ultrasound in conjunction with other 3D volumetric imaging modalities. Where the image fusion method faces challenges such as relatively slow and inaccurate registration, Samsung offers a quicker and more precise registration process. S-Fusion allows precise targeting during interventional procedures. With S-Fusion, your system is ready for many advanced clinical procedures.

Respiration Auto

When performing fusion imaging of real-time US and previously recorded CT images, the difference of respiratory phase can cause registration gaps between the images. Samsung’s Respiration Auto feature minimizes these registration differences by generating a CT image of exhalation based on the acquired image of inhalation. This respiration compensation technology makes the registration faster, helping eliminate fusion inaccuracy.

The comprehensive suite of tools enables advanced cardiovascular diagnosis.

Arterial Analysis (Advanced detection of functional changes of vessels)

Arterial Analysis detects functional changes of vessels, providing measurement values such as the stiffness, intima-media thickness and pulse wave velocity of the common carotid artery (CCA). Since the functional changes occur before morphological changes, this technology supports the early detection of cardiovascular disease.

S-3D Arterial Analysis (Innovative volume measurement of arterial plaque)

S-3D Arterial Analysis simplifies volume measurement of arterial plaque, providing 3D vessel modeling.
With Samsung’s S-3D Arterial Analysis, obtaining information on the arterial plaque volume is surprisingly fast and easy even on difficult patients. In addition, it allows medical specialists to track the morphological changes of the artery.

Some Korean Firms to Benefit from Trump’s Presidency

https://korean-electronics.com//inquiryMost Korean companies have worried about U.S. protectionist measures after the inauguration of President Donald Trump. But a few expect benefits from his administration that plans to increase investments in infrastructure.

LS Cable & System said recently it will start producing 10.3 kilometers of submarine cables in April to supply the the New York Power Authority (NYPA). The company said it also plans to expand its investment in the U.S. market to keep up with the potential growing demand in tandem with the U.S. government’s expansionary policies.

“We expect that the Trump administration’s policy to expand investment in infrastructure will boost power cable demand in the United States to replace obsolete ones,” an LS Cable official said. “Accordingly, we are considering more investments in the U.S. market.”

According to the company, its submarine cables will replace old cables laid at the bottom of Lake Champlain, which is between New York State and Vermont. The old cables were installed in 1958 and 1970.

LS Cable reached a deal with the NYPA to join the $47 million project in January 2016. The new cables will be installed between September and December this year. LS Cable in 2006 became the first Korean company to provide extra-high-voltage cables for the U.S. market.

During Trump’s presidential election campaign, he pledged to pour $1 trillion into reinforcing national infrastructure such as highways, bridges and tunnels. Doosan Group, which has suffered liquidity problems in recent years, would be happy with this news.

Doosan Bobcat is expected to be one of the biggest beneficiaries as the world’s leading small-sized construction equipment maker is already generating about 70 percent of its sales in the North American market. Market expectations are that the policy, once realized, will generate extra demand worth more than $17 billion for Doosan Bobcat.

In addition, Trump has promised to drop the federal corporate tax rate to 15 percent, down from 35 percent as it is now. Doosan Bobcat and its parent company Doosan Infracore will benefit further if his election pledge comes true.

Besides its global headquarters in Korea, Doosan Bobcat operates its main manufacturing base in North Dakota in the USA. It was acquired by Doosan Infracore in 2007, helping Doosan expand its manufacturing and sales channels to North America, China and Europe. Doosan Bobcat posted 4.4 trillion won ($39.2 billion) in sales and 385.6 billion won in operating profit last year. Doosan, however, remained cautious about the rosy expectations as it is uncertain if the Trump administration will keep all its pledges.

Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) is also expected to benefit from Trump in its bid to provide its T-50A trainer jet for the U.S. Air Force, thanks to its partnership with Lockheed Martin. The U.S. firm has been friendly with Republicans. It is known to have paid $1.88 million in political support for Trump during his presidential election campaign.

The U.S. Air Force is pushing for an advanced pilot training project, investing more than $15 billion to replace its 350 T-38 trainer aircraft. The Lockheed Martin-KAI consortium is competing with the Boeing- Saab alliance in this bidding.

Growin into a Leading Provider of Application Security Solutions in Korea

https://korean-electronics.com//inquiry

[INQ. NO. 1704E22] The following script is a personal interview with Monitorapp’s CEO Lee Kwanghoo, outlining the growth process of the company and the factors behind the steady growth of the company.

Please tell us about your company and what drives the growth of your business

Monitorapp is an application security solution provider. The name of our company came from the words ‘monitor’ and ‘app’ − meaning that we will closely monitor and protect your applications. When I heard that Israel, a relatively smaller country, was leading the world’s security solution market, I wanted to found a company that plays an important role in the security solution market in Korea. We strive to become a leading provider of integrated security solutions for key corporate applications that require strong security in place.

Tell us about your key solutions

We have seven solution lines including Application Insight Web Application Firewall (AIWAF), Application Insight Database Firewall (DB AIDFW), Application Insight VoIP Firewall (AIVFW), and Application Insight Secure Web Gateway (AISWG) designed to block harmful websites. We are about to launch Application Insight Advanced Threat Protection (AIATP) designed to protect applications from Attack Persistent Threat (APT).
Our products are proxy-based solutions that allow speedy and secure traffic shift. With our patented transparent proxy technology, solutions can be deployed without assigning separate IPs. In short, it is quick with monitoring traffic to block malicious codes, thereby not interfering with the speed of the existing service.

Tell us about your major export markets and emerging markets

We mainly export to Southeast Asian countries, particularly to Thailand. Recently, we have signed a contract with a Vietnamese government agency. We are planning to continue expanding our markets using these experiences of working with governments as a reference.
Moreover, we opened an office in Japan in 2016 to be more aggressive in sales in the Japanese market since the Japanese security market is significantly larger than the Korean market. In February this year, Monitorapp signed an ODM contract with Artiza Networks, a Japanese network and communication equipment developer. One of our products Application Insight SSL Visibility Appliance (AISVA) is a big hit in Japan because HTTPS communication is more popular there than in Korea.

Please share your business philosophy with us

Israel, a relatively small country, which is leading the world’s information security market, inspired me to establish Monitorapp, a small company with such powerful technology. With continuous investments in R&D, Monitorapp has developed leading technology in the information security market. We are planning to continue developing new technology needed by the market and to lead through close cooperation between the business department and research center. We hope that one day people worldwide will say “Monitorapp” when they think of information security.

What is your future vision? Do you have any comments for buyers and customers overseas?

Last year we launched Application Insight ON CLOUD (AIONCLOUD), a cloud-based web fi rewall service. With this solution, we are aiming to increase our international business. Apart from the Southeast Asian market, we are planning to expand our business to Japan, the Middle East, and the USA.
We are currently focusing on overseas business advancement, especially in Japan, because the Korean security market today is very saturated.
Apart from Southeast Asian countries where we are gradually expanding, we are also interested in discovering new markets in India and the Middle East.
